As we discussed a couple of weeks ago, I believe it could be beneficial to provide more website content about golf competitions. This would help enhance the player experience, streamline operations for competition organisers, and potentially boost business for the club.
While some of this is elementary and can be seen as common sense, it bears in mind that players of varying levels of awareness, are from diverse cultures and norms.
The Problem/Opportunity
Based on my personal experience, and after speaking with friends and fellow players, it’s evident that many players lack an understanding of golf rules, etiquette, and competition guidelines. This results in the following:
For all players:
- Slower pace of play
- Tension or disharmony within the group
- Interruptions to the game, causing frustration among other playing groups
For new players:
- Feelings of intimidation or embarrassment
- Fear of having done something wrong
- Risk of being seen as disruptors or bad actors
For seasoned players:
- Expectation to enforce the rules and etittiquette
- Awkwardness/lack of confidence in correcting other players
- Disruption to focus
For the club and competition organisers:
- Disruption in managing the competition
- Answering repetitive questions from different players
- Players may not know how to properly care for the course
The Proposal/Solution
Provide website content to guide players in golf competition that is easily accessible, easy to understand, and suitable for players at all levels.
